Josh Mancuso

Coach Josh, the owner and head instructor of JM Modern Jiu Jitsu, has been a driving force in the Baton Rouge Jiu Jitsu community since 2006. With twenty years of experience, he is a certified third degree black belt and the highest ranked practitioner in the Greater Baton Rouge area. Coach Josh began teaching in 2008 and earned his black belt under Tim Credeur in 2013. Over his sixteen years of teaching, he has proudly developed more than forty Jiu Jitsu black belts, instilling his passion for the art in each student. Known for his dedication to cultivating talent and fostering a supportive training environment, Coach Josh still trains in the classes himself and can be found teaching on any given night.


Brian Miller

Brian Miller earned his Jiu Jitsu Black Belt in just five years, which is a testament to his deep commitment to the art. Along with his extensive grappling background, Brian brings real world MMA competition experience to the mats. He instructs across all of our adult styles and is a core instructor for our youth program. By integrating a dynamic and takedown focused style into his teaching, Brian provides students of all ages with a solid foundation in grappling and ground control. His engaging approach makes him a favorite among our younger athletes, helping them build confidence, discipline, and resilience. Ultimately, Brian aims to create a fun and challenging environment where both adults and kids can thrive, grow, and learn valuable life skills that extend far beyond the mat.

Travis Medine

Travis Medine is a second-degree black belt in Jiu Jitsu, bringing years of experience both on the mats and in leadership. A dedicated father and successful sales manager, Travis balances his professional and personal life with the same precision he applies to his Jiu Jitsu.

Known for his technical approach, Travis meticulously prepares his classes to ensure students get the most out of every session. His teaching style is particularly well-suited for beginners, offering a structured, detail-oriented foundation that helps new students build confidence and skill quickly. Whether you're just starting your Jiu Jitsu journey or refining the basics, Travis’s instruction will give you a strong understanding of the art.


Michael Davis

Michael is an esteemed Black Belt instructor at JM Modern Jiu Jitsu, bringing a wealth of experience from his long career as an educator. A Pan-American and World Champion in Jiu Jitsu, Mike not only teaches with a high level of expertise but also plays a crucial role as our belt holder. He is responsible for monitoring student progress, promotions, and guiding practitioners on their journey toward achieving their black belt. Mike’s dedication to the development of his students, combined with his passion for Jiu Jitsu, ensures that each individual receives the mentorship and support they need to succeed.

Ashley brings world-class expertise and leadership to our academy. A multiple-time Pan-American and World Champion, Ashley’s competitive accomplishments and dedication make her a powerful role model for students. She heads up our women’s training and classes, creating a supportive, empowering environment where women of all levels can develop their skills and confidence. Ashley’s championship mindset and commitment to growth inspire her students and contribute to the gym's welcoming and inclusive community.


Sarah Davila

Sarah Davila is a seasoned brown belt in Jiu Jitsu with a strong background in mixed martial arts, bringing a wealth of experience to JM Modern Jiu Jitsu. She leads our kids' competition training on Saturdays, helping young athletes develop the skills and mindset needed to compete successfully. Sarah’s dedication and hands-on approach inspire her students, instilling confidence and discipline as they prepare for competition. Doug Fournet

Coach Doug is one of Louisiana’s original martial arts pioneers. A black belt in both Judo and Jiu Jitsu, he’s built his reputation on hard training and high-level technique. But his true battlefield is Sambo—the Russian-born martial art known for relentless pressure, powerful throws, and no-nonsense submissions. If you're serious about takedowns and domination on the mat, Sambo with Coach Doug is where you need to be
